Livia Is Looking For Her Forever Home

Meet Livia. She is such a sweet dog, but she has a sad story. Livia’s owner was like too many owners out there who let their dogs have litter after litter of puppies and then just decide they don’t want the mommies any more. Her owner gave her to a group of children that were playing at the playground and, of course, they played with her. But then they couldn’t keep her. So she ended up at the pound.

Livia is so sweet and loving. She is a little bit confused as to why she is at the pound. All she wants is for someone to love her and spend time with her and give her a forever home. She knows certain commands, such as sit, and doesn’t even expect a treat for them! She is calm and gentle. She doesn’t seem to mind other dogs as she just tends to ignore them and do her own thing. She seems to treat life like that, just simply taking it all in stride.

Livia has some skin issues, but that will most likely be treated with ongoing good nutrition and flea medicine. She loves her belly rubs, her walks and most of all people just loving on her.

If you want to come see Livia and all of the other dogs at the animal shelter, please go visit them and help a dog find their fur-ever home. They are located at 125 Buddy Christian Way in Athens. Their phone number is 706-613-3540. They are open daily from 10AM – 4PM except on Wednesdays and holidays.

Bella Is A Beautiful Black Lab Mix

Meet Bella.  She is a beautiful black lab mix that is around 35 pounds right now.  She's still in her puppy stage as she is less than a year old.

Bella is protective of the person she is with, so she would be a great watch dog for her forever home.  She isn't aggressive, but she likes to bark when she feels that her space is being invaded.  She just wants to make sure that you are aware that someone is there!

Bella loves to play and get treats.  She seems to be easily trainable and is very smart. She is already spayed and is great with other animals and people.  Her family had to move, so they had to bring her to us so that we could find her a forever home.  Bella is a little confused as to why she is in a strange new place and just wants to find a family to love her.

If you would like to meet Bella and any of the other dogs and cats that we have at the animal shelter, please come by and see us!  We are at 125 Buddy Christian Way in Athens and we are open daily from 10AM - 4PM, except for Wednesdays and holidays.  Our phone number is 706-613-3540.

Junip Is Great On A Leash And Loves Her Walks

Meet Junip. Boy does she love being loved on! Junip is an owner surrender due to financial reasons and the family only had her for a couple of months, so she is really looking for her fur-ever home this time. Junip can jump a four foot fence, so if Junip and you end up being the best of buddies, make sure that you are prepared for this trick!

She is about three years old and is an American Bulldog mix. Being a lady and all, we didn’t ask her what she weighs. She is good with kids and is super friendly. As a matter of fact, she lived with a five year old at her last home. She is very adventurous and still has that “puppy spirit”. When she came to the shelter, she was wearing a harness that had rubbed a spot raw on her chest. This means that she will probably do better with a different type of collar or gentle leader instead of a harness. We don’t want Junip to be in pain!

Junip has lots of energy and likes to jump around, but she still hasn’t jumped on people. This is great! She is so happy and is a major cuddlebug. She is great on a leash and loves her walks. If you feel like Junip might be your “soul dog mate,” then please come visit her!

You can see Junip and all of the other dogs available for adoption at 125 Buddy Christian Way in Athens. The shelter is open daily until 4pm except for Wednesdays and holidays.

Consider Sponsoring Clifford If You Are Unable To Adopt

Meet Clifford.  He’s not the “Big Red Dog” that you’re thinking of!  He’s more of your medium sized tawny colored fella with a big personality.  He weighs in at about 45 pounds and right around a year old.  He is a American Bulldog/Hound mix.

Clifford responds well to commands and is eager to learn.  He gets excited sometimes, but remember that he is still a puppy so he will probably out grow this.  And he will still listen to your command to sit when given.  He likes his toys, but he likes attention from people even more.  And he really loves giving kisses!  When given praise, his tails wags a mile a minute and he just laps it up!

Come visit Clifford and take him for a walk to see just how fun and friendly of a pup that he is!  He is looking for his forever home with someone who will show him attention and lots of love.  Is that you?

Athenspets.net is a volunteer run website that showcases the animals from the Athens-Clarke County Animal Control and Animal Shelters.  The shelter is located at 125 Buddy Christian Way on the east side of Athens.  Their hours are from 10am through 4pm daily, except on Wednesdays and holidays.

If you can’t adopt a “fur-ever” friend, please consider sponsoring one.  These animals have a limited amount of time in the shelter to be adopted and they are always in need of sponsors in order to save lives.  You can make a difference.  And in the words of Bob Barker with the Price Is Right, “Don’t forget to spay and neuter your pets.”
